Written examination task

Allsop From the Worst to the Top

Allsop is one of the best schools in the UK. Since a new headteacher arrived to the school, Allsop has become a much better school. Allsop was considered one of the worst schools in the UK.
The new headteacher made severe rules to apply discipline and make it a decent school, like that students must wait in lines for their teachers to arrice, they can't have their hait too short or too long, they must wear uniforms, mobile phones are forbidden in class, at lunch time they can't go to fast food shop and they have to stay at school in the afternoon if they don't do their homework.
Before this headteacher came students didn't behave well, the school was old and ugly. But now all this has changed to the exact opposite.
I think this school needed that teacher a long time ago, it has now become a good school, something difficult since it was one of the worst schools.

My common grammar mistakes + vocabulary link

Comma use:
"Jack who was helping me to...."
Correction:
"Jack, who was helping me to..."
Use a comma to set off parenthetical elements, as in "The Founders Bridge, which spans the Connecticut River, is falling down." By "parenthetical element," we mean a part of a sentence that can be removed without changing the essential meaning of that sentence. The parenthetical element is sometimes called "added information." This is the most difficult rule in punctuation because it is sometimes unclear what is "added" or "parenthetical" and what is essential to the meaning of a sentence.

Example:

Jack, that is from scotland, eats food.
Francisco, who eats people, ate his sister.

This and These
This (singular)
These (plural)
Example:
This is my house
These are my houses.
Mistake:
This are my plants
Correction:
These are my plants.

Expressing obligation:

I have to pay my bills.
I must not break the law.

Use to , so as to, and in order to to express purpose in the affirmative form.
Use so as not to and in order not to to express purpose in the negative form..

Section 2 task 5

Yesterday I was at a soccer match in your stadium, everything was fine, people watching the game and the players playing. But suddenly I sas how a player took the ball in his hands and threw it to the floor, this is unacceptable how didn't your referee see that. It's also called football and the foot part isn't coincidence. It isn't fair, players can't just broke rules.
I have a few suggestions so this doesn't happen again, you can train your referees so they don't miss anything, you can select th referees you hire or you could have more people helping the referee.
Hope you take my suggestions seriously so this doesn't happen again in the future.

Section 3 task 3

Best Surprise

A few weeks ago I organized a party for my friend, Julio, it was really messy at the beginnig.
Jack, who was helping me to organize the party, had the idea, he brought me into the "project" with two more friends.
We decided to do this because he always does this kind of things to us so we thought it would be nice to return the favour.
First we went to buy all the stuf for his party, we left Diego distracting him so he didn't caught us, just in case.
We finished buying but while preparing the stuff for the party, someone called Jack and told him he had to go back to scotland. It was a problem because he was Julio's best friend.
While we convinced Jack to stay until the party started, they called him again and his house in scotland had burnt so he would live a couple months more in chile, we were so happy he was staying but sad for his house.
Finally Julio entered and we surprised him, he was very happy, but he said he was expecting it.

Dear Diego:
I heard you want to become a tv presenter, I will give you some tips so you can do this.
You should find a plaec to work as a tv presenter, you will have to be  accepted to work there. You will need to speak very clearly, be self-confident and have the ability to speak without being nervous or at least so that it isn't noticeable.
It might be difficult, because not everyone can do it, it's an important part of being a tv presenter.
Good Luck

Section 2, task 2

The Boring Center
Yesterday I went to your new leisure center and I think it's not working very well, people are not having fun.
The service is really bad, a few games aren't fun you need better things to do and better people. Without a friendly staff you won't get so far.
I have a few suggestions for you, so your leisure center won' be that bad as it is now.
You should train your staff or get new people, friendly people. Also you should get fun stuff to do because it gets really boring in there.
Also if you make a nice place there, maybe a beautiful place it would be great, it would be attractive to a person.
Hope you take my suggestions seriously.

Section 3 task 5

My Visit to Mexico
One year ago, I visited a place near cancun in Mexico, it is called "Riviera Maya"
When I arrived it was really hot, it was winter and at least 35ºC.
First we went to the hotel and just left our stuff, everything was so full of life, if you looked to one of the million plants you would see a different animal.
Also there was a beach and if you looked in a bush or something like that you would see more animals.
There I met some kids, they were from Mexico, they were just walking by there, but we played, soon they had to leave so I didn't see them anymore.
I recommend the place, it's fun and something different from what you see everyday.
I would go back to this place if I had the opportunity, it was a really good experience that I'd like to have again.

Referee mistake

Yesterday I was at a rugby match in a stadium of Viña del Mar, when I realised that one player should've got a penalty but he didn't get anything.
This shouldn't happen because you let a team broke a rule and it's unfair.
You should prevent this from happening again, you could get a training for your referees so they don't miss anything the players do. This would make the game fair for both teams.
Another thing you could do would be to choose the referees you hire and make sure they don't make this mistakes that can give an advantage to one team and a disadvantage to the other one.
Hope you read this and do something so we can watch fair games.

Subject: Sports Competition

Hi Nicolas,
How are you?
The thing is that I'm going to take part in a sports competition, and if I win I'm going to meet Arturo Vidal!
Well in football as you probably know there are some rule slike not touching the ball with your hands, not getting the ball outside of the court and score the points on the opposite team's goal in.
I will prepare a lot, I will train in a football school, I will play in my yard, I will always play with a ball!
See you soon!

Viña del Mar exercising parks /200 word article

In Viña del mar a park was built a few months ago, this park has exercising machines, it gives everyone the opportunity to exercise, and get to know viña del mar.
You can ride a bike, walk, jog, take your children so they can play, there are special games for children.
This is the opportunity for every family to go and have time together, they can do lots of things including going to the beach, walking, riding a bike, etc. All this will contribute for their healthiness, they do exercise, they spend time together and they can breathe air outdoors.
They installed exercising machines on purpose so people could see them and feel attracted to them, if you cant go to the gym, you just get a walk and use them for a while.
And this is not the only place to exercise, also there are gyms all around Viña del mar.

Sharing, Using and doing.

For humans there are lots of needs, one of them, and the one that I will talk about is exercise in communities.
Exercise is one of the main things for a healthy life style, of course there  are other things to like healthy eating, etc.
Every community neds places to exercise and if you exercise you will become physically active and probably not in over weight.
Not every community has the availability for physical activities, it's related to a lot of things, income, geography, etc. For example african communities have barriers, like lack of parks, side walks and bike lanes.
Shared use is a way to increase access to recreational facilities. This can be agreements between two entities, for example a school and any other group agree to let that group use the school facilities like a gym, courts, etc. During non-school hours.
But shared use does not only help people to do exercise, it also reduces costs because they share them. It's helping  each other.
There are two types of agreements in shared use, formal agreements and informal agreements.
Formal agreements ensure the responsability from each part. But informal ones don't have any written paper, just by word.
But shared use has some obstacles that prevent from being completely efficent, like vandalism, so you can ensure school facilities will be left as they were before use.
Also shared use is not the only way to exercise, people make groups to go running together or exercise at the beach.
Exercising, it's a life style, it requires time and commitment.
Exercising does not only prevent over weight and obesity, it also prevents a lot more diseases, like heart ones. People who exercise more, have less possibilities of having a heart problem.
Doing exercise also gets people with more energy, it energizes them.
It helps to improve digestive systems.
It also improves relationship between people when they do it together, also when doing it with friends they can encourage each other to do it, it's more exciting to do it with friends than alone.
Sports will not only give you inmediate benefits, it will also give you long term benefits, But for those benefits to become permanent, yu need to keep pratising sports.
In summary sports aren't just an activity, they are an important part of a healthy life.

Diary entry

Britain AD 45
Today I had to woke up very early, it's very hard to build these roads.
Today i had to finish a stone road that I started a few weeks ago, it's very boring to place piece by piece. Well, today we had to finish the ditches.
Everything was fine until someone was digging and a lot of dirt fell on him, in that moment I thought "oh no, the ditches are ruined", but then I realized there was someone in there, we all started digging to take him out and for our luck, he was alive, he cleaned himself and everyone went home except me, I just had to finish a few details. I was burried by more dirt, I just had this paper, inm and no way out, this is how my last day went.

Hadrian's Wall History

Hadrian's wall was built because Hadrian thought that they wouldn't be able to mantain the border.
The wall towered fifteen feet high, it had parapets rising aditional six feet above that, also a nine feet ditch was dug at its base.
The main problem when building this wall was to carry the materials to the constructing site, three legions were needed to move heavy rocks. It took 5 years to complete the wall.
The wall also had superforts, with barracks, assembly hall, temple, hospital and a bath house were some of the facilities inside this superforts.

How to play octopus dare

I will be explaining to you how to play octopus dare.
Octopus dare is a game where the objective is to beat the octopus and get the treasure at the end of the game.
Apparently it's a difficult game because no one except Dinah could end it.

Well, in the first stage you will be like a ship and you have to avoid some shoals that will be "killing" you if you crash with them. Then you will be a submarine and you will have to beat the OCTOPUS-S-S-S you will have to avoid his tentacles and survive until you can get the treasure. If he kills you, you will have to start the game again...

Article "Tulio Triviño and 31 minutos"

Tulio Triviño is one of the main characters of "31 minutos" a tv show it's like a chimpanzee with button eyes and with no nose, he works as a journalist. When he was a child he joined a scout group called "Manada Apumanque", where he met his friend "Juan Carlos Bodoque".

His first job as journalist was in "Maracaibo, Venezuela" in a program about beetles, thanks his friend Juan Carlos he could get a job in "31 minutos", as anchorman, he doesnt have hair.

In the program "31 minutos" there are some members of his family like his niece "Patana" that works as a reporter for her uncle, doing everything that he wants. But Tulio hates her because he thinks she's a disobedient but she is a really inteligent and obedient girl so I can infer that he isn't good judging people.

Recently all the staff of "31 minutos" sang at the "Festival de Viña" and they got every prize possible, clearly a great team

Letter "Six ways to have a better year" [06/03/2013]

Dear Friend, This year I want to have a better year so I was hoping you do so, because I discovered some ways to have a better year. Well in the past I've done some of those things, like swimming, walk to school, run upstairs, cycling, touching my toes and well one of the list that I haven't done recently is weight lifting. Also to have a better year you can go in vacations to the countryside or the mountains. Also remember to have a healthy diet its an important thing, don't buy pre-made food it's not good. Stop using the car, use a bike or walk you make exercise and you don't polute the air with the car gases. Maybe some charity is good too, you will be a better person and you will help others. And this one is VERY important, never lose contact with your friends and family, never lose contact with them they are important in your life and you are happy with them you will have great times with them. I'm planning to do almost all in the list. What do you think you need to have a better year? Maybe some of this things will be useful for you. Your Friend Carlos
